UK: Payment links to patients — how they are sent, and checking what a patient received

Written by Shane Murphy

When a consultation is booked and the patient still needs to pay for it, MediStack sends a payment link by email and by SMS, so a patient who doesn't see the text can still pay from the email.

A payment link is sent only when the consult has a cost, is not on a treatment plan / subscription, and payment was not taken at the time of booking. Free bookings, bookings paid immediately, and bookings that start a subscription do not get a payment link. SMS is sent only if the patient has a mobile number on file.

Checking what was sent

All communications sent to a patient — both emails and SMS — are listed under the patient's profile. If a patient says they never received a payment link, look there first to confirm what went out and when, before resending.

Customising the wording

Clinics can customise their email templates, so the payment link email can be worded to match your own tone and branding.

If a patient's record shows a payment link was sent but they still cannot pay, contact [email protected] with the patient's name and the date of the booking.
