UK: Sending appointment and patient activity events to Segment (or your own webhook)

Written by Shane Murphy

MediStack can forward appointment and patient activity events to Segment, or to your own endpoint, from Developers → Webhooks in the clinic portal. This is self-serve — no setup by MediStack is required.

Setup

  • The Webhooks page only appears for users with the "Manage API Keys" permission. A clinic admin can add it to their own clinician record: Clinicians → open the record → tick Manage API Keys → Save.

  • Log out and back in for the permission to take effect.

  • In Segment, copy the write key from Connections → Sources → HTTP API → Write Key.

  • Paste it on Developers → Webhooks and Save.

Events delivered

  • Consult booked, rescheduled, cancelled, completed, did not attend

  • Patient registered

  • Orders placed, updated, cancelled

  • Prescription events

The API Documentation button on the Webhooks page lists every event and its fields for mapping in Segment.

Own endpoint

The same page accepts a webhook URL if you would rather receive events on your own endpoint. Segment and a custom URL can both be configured, and the two destinations deliver independently.
